Objectifs

The first-year* of the master’s degree programme in « International and European Law » is a French national degree, taught in English, fully recognized in Europe and complying with the Bologna process. This one-year program equals 60 credits in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

The MIEL aims at giving students a thorough knowledge of the private and public aspects of international and European legal issues.

The programme offers a comparative perspective, focuses on methodology with a view to provide the students with the tools needed for them to hold positions as lawyers in an international and European context.
A study trip to Brussels will be organised in the frame of this programme. The students will have the opportunity to discover the European Institutions.

* In the French system, the master programme is divided into two years: Master 1 (first-year of Master) and Master 2 (second-year of Master).

At the end of the diploma, students who pass the exams, acquire 60 ECTS credits and are especially entitled to apply for the second year of the Master’s degree in France.

In particular, the MIEL gives the opportunity to apply for the second year of one of the Master’s degree programs taught in English (or both in English or French) at Toulouse 1 Capitole University, in the following areas of study:

• Comparative International Law,
• International Business Law,
• International Economic Law,
• Private International Law.

Conditions d'accès

Targeted public:
A three-year degree in law is required, equivalent to 180 ECTS (European credits) i.e. Bachelor’s degree, Licence or equivalent.
Other qualifications and area of study may be considered by the Admission Committee.
Students must have an adequate command of the English language to enrol. An applicant's English proficiency level may be demonstrated by means of score reports of recognized exams, tests or certificates (equivalent to C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) or by any relevant means (study and life experience in a program taught in English…).

Selection criteria
The admission committee will assess your application based on academic results, English proficiency, personal experiences (international and/or professional) and motivation.

All the candidates have to submit a paper application. The application form is available online from the diploma web page on UT1 or European School of Law website (http://esl.ut-capitole.fr/).
According to your country of residence, you may have to comply with additional procedures. Please get in touch with the Campus France office in your home country or check at: www.campusfrance.org.

Important dates: Application deposit from 2nd of April 2018 to 14th of May 2018.

Registration fees: The tuition fees are 3,000 € without regard to nationality.

Poursuites d'études
At the end of the diploma, students who pass the exams, acquire 60 ECTS credits and are especially entitled to apply for the second year of the Master’s degree in France. Moreover, the students interested by this perspective can continue their Master 2 Studies in Toulouse University.

In particular, the MIEL gives the opportunity to apply for the second year of one of the Master’s degree programs taught in English (or both in English or French) at Toulouse 1 Capitole University, in the following areas of study :

• Comparative International Law,
• International Business Law,
• International Economic Law,
• Private International Law.

The OFIP (Observatoire des Formations et de l’Insertion professionnelle) examines the academic and professional future of the alumni: continuation or resumption of studies, access to the labour market, after 30 months situation (work, studies, unemployment,…), occupation characteristics (sector, status, functions, professions, wages, geographical mobility,…).

Preparation to access the labour market workshops are set up and hold by the SUIO-IP:
- Making of professional project: highlighting ones experiences; identifying ones strengths; building ones project.
- Techniques for hunting a job: CV, applications letters, preparation to interviews.
- Student exchange: CV, Motivation letter and interview in English, application in Spanish.
- Making of Skills Portfolio (Portefeuille d’Expériences et de Compétences) through the online platform PEC.

Short lectures and job days about varied topics are set up all along the year: “How to hunt for an internship”; “The keys for successful first steps into a firm”,…

A Master day (1st and 2nd years of master) is set up by the SUIO-IP every year, and takes place in the University Great Hall. All the masters are represented by the teachers and the current class students. The date will be known on the University website and on the notice boards.
