The opening ceremony of the 2018 academic year at the European School of Law : On Saturday, 29 September 2018, 127 laureates were honoured by the European School of Law.
Mortarboards, sashes and diplomas were handed out to them by faculty members and representatives of partner universities, in the presence of the eminent patron of the School, Heinz Wismann, director of studies emeritus at the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences (EHESS).
Mr Wismann, a Franco-German philosopher and philologist, author of the book Penser entre les langues (Thinking between languages) for which he received the Charles Veillon European Essay Prize in 2012, delivered a speech for the opening ceremony as part of the Occitanie region’s Quinzaine Franco-Allemande event.
The ceremony was opened by Corinne Mascala, president of Toulouse Capitole University. It continued with speeches from Philippe Nelidoff, dean of the faculty of law; Noël Chahid-Nouraï, president of the School’s Strategic Direction Council; Marc Blanquet, public law professor and holder of the Jean Monnet Chair; and Lukas Rass-Masson, director of the ESL and public law professor.

At the end of the ceremony, the students at the top of their class threw their mortarboards into the air at the entrance of the Cujas lecture hall.
The event concluded with a laid-back buffet and chats among the laureates, their parents and friends along with faculty and university members.
