The foundational texts of the European Union, the Rome Treaties, were signed in the eponymous city sixty years ago. These texts laid the foundations for today’s European Union. It thus seems fitting that their entry into force should be commemorated on their sixtieth anniversary.
The Rome Treaties were signed on 25 March 1957 and entered into force on 1 January 1958.
